Minimum Daily Package


Many Foreigners get alarmed at the package rate set by the Government of Bhutan to spend a holiday in Bhutan but if you consider well the package is worth the value. Bhutan being an exotic vacation place, the government has set a policy of “ high value low impact “ and a mandatory daily tariff in order prevent it from being overwhelmed by mass tourism and its effects. Thus 35% of the mandatory tariff goes to the government and is used efficiently for environment protection, free education, health care and developmental activities.

The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan. These must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.

 The minimum daily package applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan for tourists travelling in a group of 3 people or more is as follows:


US $250 per night
Spring Season: March, April & May.

Autumn Season: September, October & November
US $200 per night
Summer Season: March, April $ May.

Winter Season: December, January $ February.
                   VISA FEE : US $40 per person



Tourists travelling in a group of two (2) persons or less shall be subject to a surcharge, in addition to the minimum daily package rates. These are as follows;

  • Single individual – US$ 40 per night
  • Group of 2 persons only – US$ 30 per person per night
  • Tourism Development Fee – US $ 10 per person

The surcharge will not be applicable to representatives of foreign travel agents on business study or promotional visit duly approved and cleared by TCB.

                                                 The minimum daily package covers the following services:

     •    A minimum of 3 star accommodation (4 & 5 star may require an premium payment).
     •  All meals and refreshments
     •  A licensed Bhutanese tour guide for the extent of your stay
     •  All internal ground transport
     •  Camping equipment and haulage for trekking tours
     •  USD 65 Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)
·      Tickets & Fees to all attractions



The minimum daily package doesn’t include:

  • Bhutan Visa Fee
  • Airfares for both international & Domestic flights
  • Travel insurance
  • Tips for guide and driver



  • There shall be no charge other than visa fee of USD 40 for children below the age of 5 years.
  • Children between the ages of 5-12 years shall be given 50% discount on minimum daily package rate.
  • Full time students below the age of 25 years, holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions, shall be given 25% discount on minimum daily package rate.
